ChickenBrick Studios to release MMO game for Android
3:48 AM Edited by Blony

ChickenBrick Studios, developers of my favorite Android multiplayer game Cestos, have started taking beta signups for their next work, codenamed ProjectInf. Details are scarce, but it appears to be the first massive multiplayer online game for Android. Cestos was one of the first multiplayer games for Android allowing 2-4 players to compete. ProjectInf will offer massive games with a large number of players and I’m excited to see what gameplay awaits.
This is what we know about the game so far.
* Codenamed ProjectInf
* Real-Time Networked Play
* Massive size games
* Long-term games (join and leave as much as you like, the war will keep raging!)
* Multiple types of units to choose from
* Social aspects
* Team based as well as individual gameplay
* Tons of replayability
If you would like an early look at the game, you can submit an application to become a beta tester. Just visit their site and fill out the form. Invitations should start going out this weekend. Be warned the game is in its early graphical stages, but that should be changing rapidly over the next two weeks.

Texas Hold’em King 3 Now Compatible with BlackBerry Storm 9500 and 9530
8:37 PM Edited by Blony

I just received notice from Bplay that Texas Hold’em King 3 (Texas Hold’em King 2 was one of my favorite games on my old 8700) is now available for the BlackBerry Storm 9500 and 9530. Enjoy networked multi-player tournies, and a growing online community of over 100,000 players!
I can attest to this game being a solid offer. Many game modes are built-in, and the singler player mode features a ‘Turbo’ feature that fast-forwards hands once you’ve folded… this really speeds things along. Of course the multi-player mode allows you to play online against other players around the world, and in contest mode you can compete against others to win prizes.
For more information or to purchase for $4.99, hit up Bplay.

Google to add carrier billing to Android Market
6:18 AM Edited by Blony

At the moment, users can buy apps from the Android Market only via Google Checkout – which may not be the most convenient purchase option for everyone.
Probably that’s why Google plans to add more payment methods to the Android Market.
According to CNET, a future Android OS update will offer several other paying systems. Including carrier billing – which means that, for example, T-Mobile customers could purchase apps and pay for them via their monthly bill.
Moreover, it looks like you may even be able to buy apps without using Google Checkout at all.
The new Android Market payment methods might be available as soon as T-Mobile USA launches the MyTouch 3G – but there’s nothing official about this at the moment.

Two videos for mobile app developers
7:13 PM Edited by Blony
--Motorola is starting the online publicity for its upcoming Android-based smartphones. They did a brief interview with me, asking how mobile app developers can distribute their software (link).
--Elia Freedman of Infinity Softworks did a great presentation on his experiences selling through the iPhone App Store, and the lessons he has learned. It’s well worth watching the video here.
It's best to watch both of these, and think about them, before you develop your mobile app.

National Geographic’s mobile games coming this year
9:39 AM Edited by Blony

National Geographic is getting ready to go mobile, big time. To help them along the way, the TV network is joining forces with RealNetworks, and together the two companies will bring five casual games burst with educational material to mobile users. We’re not hearing which platforms they will support, but we did caught the “cross-platform” word, meaning they’re not talking “just iPhone,” which is arguably the single most popular platform to develop for these days.
Commenting on the news, National Geographic’s Paul Levine said: “Our Interactive Platforms division continues to field a broad array of highly engaging and entertaining consumer products with universal appeal across multiple platforms, incorporating the best of National Geographic’s mission, brands and franchises. Millions of families and gamers of all ages around the globe are playing our games on consoles, handhelds, mobile phones and online, and we are thrilled to work with such creative and innovative partners to deliver next-generation ‘AAA’ titles and virtual experiences to our global audiences.”
We’re certainly looking forward to see the big company such as National Geographic taking mobile seriously and are looking forward to see what they can bring to the table…

PhoneSpy or How to Remotely Tap Someone
6:26 AM Edited by Blony

Anyone jealous? PhoneSpy (but the name will change as the software evolves) is a free application from XDA Developers that will allow you to activate remote tap on someone through their Windows Mobile 5 Professional and above devices.
Download the zip and extract it to Device\Windows\Startup (or anywhere, just place a shortcut to it in Device\Windows\Startup) so that it autostarts with the Operating System. From there on it will stay memory resident and "listen" to incoming Text Messages. The moment it receives the "chetstriker" text, it will automatically call back the number it received the message from and it will activate the speakerphone so the other party listens in. The received text message is not stored on the device so the author says it leaves no trace or evidence.
Places Directly: Google decides to save the lost rangers
10:24 AM Edited by Blony

While most of us who travel extensively already know a thousand different ways to find what’s around you when stuck in a rutt; a mobile phone application for that developed by Google is always as desirable as anything absolutely unwillingly new! What the Google geniuses have now developed is the Places Directly service, which allows you to locate everything from bars to medical stories, to ATMs, all on the Android.

Click on any one of the thumbnails and it will take you to a page with an overview of the place, including its address and phone number. Not just that it will also give you a tried and tested review by people who have actually gone ahead and rated the place. Pretty cool I’d say.
Would work great I guess when I am lost in some remote city, when I go on a self-indulgence trip to some god forsaken city somewhere!

New Google Product Search to Android. Now with support for barcode
7:06 AM Edited by Blony

Main innovation of this release, well able to search on a product using the camera in your smartphone powered by Google to scan the bar code.
Pity that such research is not yet possible in our markets, but only in the United States and Great Britain. We hope there is not to wait too long to do the same thing too. I can imagine? "Excuse me committed, I could make a photo of the box?")

eBuddy: Android arrives on one of the best IM client
6:56 AM Edited by Blony

Completely free (and available on Android Market), this is really a good solution if you want to keep an eye on the vast majority of your contacts, allowing you to talk at once, in fact, with users of MSN, Yahoo!, AIM, Facebook , Google Talk and ICQ (there is still someone who uses it?).
Among the characteristics of high eBuddy, the ability to receive messages quickly when we were offline, smiley support, the ability to receive messages in the status bar and more. Do you have a phone with Android? Try it! ;)
