.
Orange and the Wikimedia Foundation today announced a major strategic alliance to provide their customers with Spain, France and United Kingdom convenient access to the contents of the Wikipedia encyclopedia.

This is much better than WikiPock, which puts the Wikipedia offline on your mobile phone and is much closer to the mobile version of Wikipedia for the iPhone but for any mobile.

The partnership includes the creation of specific channels of the Wikipedia encyclopedia on the web and wap portals for Orange, and the development of widgets for mobile phones and the Internet, something very new and will have enough momentum in the coming months.

In a second phase envisages the cooperation of both entities in developing a range of new services that utilize the experience of Orange as a global provider of telecommunications through mobile, internet and TV.

Following these steps will extend the alliance to other European countries where Orange is present.
