CMT: mobile phones slowed down in Spain

. The Commission for the Telecommunications Market on Friday presented his monthly report on broadband and telephony in Spain concerning the month of November 2008. The data reflect a slowdown in the growth of mobile phones during the month. The total number of mobile lines increased by 65,176 lines, compared to 145,056 from 183,000 in October and November of 2007.


This drop was particularly noticeable in the form of prepayment, which lost 27,443 users, while the lines grew by 92,619 contracts net. These data make the figures for mobile telephony in Spain in 112 lines per 100 inhabitants. Yoigo is the operator who has registered highest gain of lines in September, October and November 2008, with 34.4% of total net additions, followed by Orange (26.1%) and mobile virtual network operators (24 %).
