Orange UK launches business homescreen for Samsung Omnia Pro B7330, sells 30K iPhones

Orange UK announced that it sold more than 30,000 iPhone 3GS smartphones today, smashing what the company believes to be “the previously published first day sales records for a phone in the UK.”

Orange is the first British carrier to start selling the iPhone after O2, which had an exclusivity deal with Apple until this fall.

Vodafone and 3 are also expected to sell the iPhone in the UK, although this will probably happen in early 2010.

In related news, Orange UK has launched a so-called business homescreen for the upcoming Samsung Omnia Pro B7330 – a smartphone that’s quite different from the iPhone, featuring Windows Mobile 6.5 and a full QWERTY keypad.

Targeted at medium and large business customers, Orange’s new homescreen provide quick access to email, voicemail, contacts, calendar and so on, “ensuring vital business applications are right at their employees’ finger tips”.

The Samsung Omnia Pro B7330 will be soon available through Orange, coming as the carrier’s first “business WM6.5 device.”
