Google (which recently announced the acquisition of AdMob for $750 million) has teamed up with Boingo Wireless, Airport Marketing Income, Advanced Wireless Group and others in order to offer free Wi-Fi in 47 US airports during the 2009 Holiday Season – starting now and through January 15 2010.

Participating airports include Las Vegas, Seattle, Boston, St. Louis, San Jose, Houston, Baltimore, Burbank, Miami, Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, Charlotte and Indianapolis. Seattle and Burbank airports will continue to offer free Wi-Fi after the Holiday season, for an indefinite period of time.

Google says that more than 100 million people will pass through the 47 participating airports during the Holidays. Many of them probably carry Wi-Fi enabled laptops or smartphones, so Google’s new offering is more than welcome.

A complete list of airports that are providing free Wi-Fi can be found at the Free Holiday Wi-Fi website – where there will also be a photo contest, starting November 16.
