Zeemote Turns BlackBerry Phones into Gaming Consoles

Previously-known as business smartphones, BlackBerry phones can now dual as gaming devices as well. Zeemote's JS1 gaming joystick is now fully compatible with BlackBerry handsets.

Besides being useful as a gaming joystick, the JS1 can also be used to control presentations, or even work as a camera trigger.

The Zeemote JS1 controller was reviewed earlier this year by PhoneReport, where it received a rating of 8.9/10, distinguishing itself for being small and light and having four programmable buttons. Unfortunately, it does not allow recharging of its batteries.

The manufacturer has a strong partnership with Gameloft, a leading mobile gaming software developer - this will allow BlackBerry users to have access to a wide variety of games compatible with their phones. Alternatively, users can refer to PhoneReport on weekends, when BlackBerry game reviews are published by our in-house RIM-affairs correspondent, Antony Pritchard.

The controller will most likely be available from network operators, who will offer the JS1 in a bundle with a BlackBerry device. This method of selling is the one currently used by operators in Europe, and will most likely apply to BlackBerry handsets as well.
