Many will surely be named the first HTC attention when presented with the G1 Android, the mobile operating system open source Google.

But the truth is that 80% of mobile phones that were sold with Windows Mobile were manufactured by HTC as we learned at the MWC 2009.

Senior Vice President of Microsoft Mobile Communications, Andrew Lees, at the scene said that the company sold 50 million devices since the birth of the platform back in 2003.

He then appeared on stage HTC CEO Peter Chou, and said: "I am an old veteran of Windows Mobile. We sold 40 million mobile phones with Windows Mobile HTC worldwide.

What's surprising is that these data for the other 49 manufacturers that use Microsoft's licenses, among which are Samsung, Motorola and Palm-only sold 20% of the total, some 10 million mobiles.
