The week marches on and today being Saturday means it is time to recap the recent happenings in the world of Windows Mobile. The holiday season saw not one but two updates for the HTC HD2 Windows phone. One extends the functionality of the calendar app that HTC puts on the HD2, including new view options and the ability to start the week on Monday or Sunday in the views. The other update extends the HD2 ability to handle large SD cards for storage. The phone can use cards that are 8 GB or larger after the update is applied. As always, back up your phone before applying any update.

The folks at HTC have obviously been very busy this season as the updates for the Diamond 2 and Touch Pro 2 bear witness. These phones get an update that adds handwriting recognition (HWR) to the Windows phones. Silly me, I thought Windows Mobile already had HWR but maybe this is an improved version.

Our podcast buddy Matt Miller recently participated in a Smartphone Round Robin and it has been a hoot watching techies get exposed to smartphone platforms. One such effort sees a BlackBerry addict get his first taste of Windows Mobile on video. It’s worth a look, especially to see how newbies react to the Windows phone experience.
