Apple responds to Nokia’s lawsuit with a countersuit

Remember Nokia’s lawsuit filed against Apple in October? Nokia then stated that Apple’s iPhone infringes 10 of its patents.

Apple has obviously not admitted this. In return, it has just filed a countersuit, claiming that the world’s largest phone maker is infringing no less than 13 Apple patents.

While Nokia mentioned that the patents Apple allegedly infringed are related to GSM, HSDPA and WLAN technologies, the Cupertino company says nothing about the patents that the Espoo manufacturer has (also allegedly) infringed.

“Other companies must compete with us by inventing their own technologies, not just by stealing ours,” declared about the matter Bruce Sewell, Apple’s General Counsel and senior vice president.

Yeah, well, I’m now waiting for Nokia to counter-countersuit Apple with a claim of 16 patent infringements. Or maybe the companies will simply reach an agreement and everyone gets to live happily ever after.
