4th generation iPhone to come with 5MP camera. Apple tablet to be showcased in January

Not long after finding out that Foxconn has already received orders for Apple’s 4th generation iPhone, we’re now hearing that the new iPhone is likely to feature a 5MP camera.

Reportedly, the 5MP CMOS image sensors are ordered from OmniVision Technologies – which also makes the 3.2MP sensors for the iPhone 3GS.

Taiwanese sources are saying that OmniVision expects to ship 40-45 million image sensors for Apple’s iPhone in 2010 – and that obviously means Apple hopes to sell this (impressive) number of iPhones next year.

In other Apple news (or should we say rumors?), Business Insider has it that the Cupertino-based company is readying a “new, larger mobile device with a higher resolution display” for January 2010. This may be the much-talked-about Apple tablet, or even the aforementioned 4th generation iPhone.

Seeing what the competition has achieved (HTC HD2, Google Nexus One and so on), a new iPhone with a higher resolution display makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?

Regardless of what it is, Apple’s new and larger device will not be available for purchase in January – only a demo version will be ready by then. Well, let’s wait and see what the new year brings.
