The Google Phone is reportedly “very real”. Wouldn’t that make Andy Rubin a liar?

Despite Andy Rubin’s recent “we’re not making hardware” statement, the rumors about a Google Phone just won’t die.

According to TechCrunch a “pure Google-branded phone” with Android is “absolutely confirmed” for early 2010 – although it should have been launched this year.

Reportedly, the handset will be manufactured by a major company – LG or Samsung, most probably – but only Google’s branding will be visible on it. There are no details about the smartphone’s design and features, but it’s said that Google is in charge of every little aspect regarding the device.

Rumors also have it that Google plans a big advertising push for its phone, and we could see this as early as January 2010.

OK, so if all this is true, wouldn’t it mean that Andy Rubin lied when he said that Google won’t have an Android phone of its own? I guess we’ll have to wait until next year to see what exactly is going on.
