T-Mobile SIM card develops a new integrated

The U.S. branch of the German operator T-Mobile has announced the creation of the first integrated SIM card, designed mainly for communication protocols used in M2M (machine to machine). For example, monitoring devices or monitoring programmed to automatically send a message to a server in certain circumstances.

This new card will retain many of the advantages of a GSM SIM card, but at a much smaller size (around the head of a pin) and made of silicon rather than plastic. It is designed to be mounted at the factory and put M2M modules medioambientals hostile factors such as humidity, extreme temperatures or motion.

According to a press release, T-Mobile USA could begin to market products with this new technology this summer, companies such as Echelon Corporation.
