PalmOS is dead, all bets on Palm and Windows Mobile WebOS

In a clear defensive maneuver, Palm has just signed the death certificate PalmOS after nearly 15 years of support and with a few million of equipment in operation.

Ed Colligan, Palm CEO, has just confirmed in a conference with investors that the company used every effort in Palm OS and Windows Mobile website, and not afraid to Apple with its threat of trial for the multitouch Pre Palm included.

Has ensured that already have agreements with mobile operators in the United States, Canada, Latin America and Europe to launch the new Palm Pre. Also mentions that the Pre Palm applications will have a shop but no control over the content, like Apple does. Addition will include the installation of the air sover application and the USB.
