IDC has just shown its latest survey of global mobile market, which ensures that sales of mobile phones fell 12.6 percent in the last quarter of 2008 over the same period of 2007. Then, the total mobile phones sold reached 289 million units compared to 330.8 million from Q4 2007.

For consulting, the market will not recover until 2010 and the reasons for this fall in a period that typically pay much better, would be "a weak demand from users, currency volatility and low credit availability."

The only positive note in the report for 2008 is that the segment of smartphones grew 22.5 percent and clearly ahead of the rest in the United States rose an astounding 70 percent. This increase becomes also grow in other industries such as mobile gaming, for example.

Regarding the total in 2008, sold a total of 1.18 billion cell phones which meant an increase of 3.5% from 2007 when sales reached 1.14 billion.
